Kuch Din Pehle Kisi Ko Intezar Karte Dekha.....

Thirakte kadmo aur nasheeli saanso ke darmiyan kahi gayi baat

Chaukhat ke paas badalte zamane ki raushni ko andhere ki maat

Aangan mei padi tooti charpayi par os ke boondon ki bisaat

Tumhare dabe hue kadmo ki aahat ki aarzoo mei ghar ke kapat

Gusalkhane mei tapakte pani ka sannate ke hriday par aaghat

Aur kisi bebas ma ki aankhon mei guzarte intezaar ke lamhat

kuch aise hi -

Halqi peeli chadar odh kar karvat leti hai har raat, karvat leti hai har raat

Kitne khushnaseeb hain hum ki na kal ka hosh hai aur kal ki yaad

Getting 99.81 percentile in cat n then clearing UPSC(IAS) with AIR 40;really mindboggling..when people take 3-4 attempts to clear the hurdle u took just eight months and 1 attempt to clear it..great..plz tell whether u join ias or ifs like ur father or ips..plz tell...congrats once again

well kartikeya i've cleared CA(CHARTERED ACCOUTANCY) with all india rank and recently cleared upsc pelimies...should u think i should write mains or go ahead with CA degree......

Kartikeya said...

Dude, answer to this question depends on what you want to do ultimately in life. If you want to have a corporate carreer and earn the corporate salary then CA is the way to go. If you want to be in a more socially responsible role and effect lives of people directly, then please write mains.

Also take into account the kind of lifestyle, social prestige, international and national exposure etc which you envisage in your life.

Having said that, mathematically, CA will be an easier route to a quick and comfortable existance given your academic credentials.

Your current age also comes into play, if young (<25) you may want to check the corporate world out and ascertain for yourself if you want to do civils.

Remember - the clock is ticking :-)
All the best

But how have you cleared pre before they were conducted is a question

Anonymous said...

sorry for writing recently as cleared pre but missed mains coz of ca exam preparation..for the next year year i'm asking....can i ask one more question as i got offer from HUL-Hindustan unilever should i accept it?and take coaching for the mains in the week end or or prepare without job?by the way i got 99 percentile also in cat 2008 but did not join anywhere when job market is so slump......can u say for rank holder ca is it worthful to join any institute including IIMs when investment banking is no men's land.....i think i;m doing many things :)plz advise yaar u genius now its either ca+iim or ias after ca?

If you are scoring what you are scoring almost everywhere, then you don't need any advise. Whatever decision you end up taking, you will do great for yourself eventually

yesterday iwas CNBC TV 18 there was interview of u saying...its recession and decided to do IAS..is it the correct reason? actually RKP sir some years told us that kartikeya can do anthing and his parents wanted him to do IAS then mba from iim?whats the truth to really quit goldman(very high salary)to IAS(less salary)?

Gurucharan Das wrote in one of his recent articles that a nephew of his who worked as an investment banker was so sick of people giving him a nasty look with a comment: 'oh! so you are one of THEM too' that he decided next time someone does that to him he would say he runs a brothel! atleast thats a profession that people understand! i dont think its the downturn that made you do a career switch, yet 'serving the people' sounds very idealistic and cliched a reason! nonetheless it is a noble thought to begin at. let it not remain merely a thought. good luck...sitaron se aage jahaan aur bhi hain...abhi ishq ke imtehaan aur bhi hain. ...oh i forgot - wrote this to say CONGRATULATIONS!

kartikeya tumne iim ki ek seat barbad kar di when u actually wanted to suve the country.BTW congrats for smooth ride even in UPSC:)

Kartikeya said...

In sawalon ka jawab dete dete halaq sookh gaya hai, par firse koshish karoonga.

Maine na engg aur na iim ki seat barbaad ki hai, mujhe nahi lagta ki higher education ka ek matr uddeshya job hai. Aap jo bhi jahan bhi seekhte hain, woh equally well public aur private sectors mei istemal kiya ja sakta hai, mahattwakaknsha aur himmat ki zaroorat hai, iti.

Some people used to call the entire wall street - glorified prostitution. I think there are a lot of smart people out there. Truth at times may sound idealistic, I can't cater to the generic value framework. I hope that my work shall speak for itself (with your best wishes and blessings). One should always look at the one's risk perception and risk taking capacity :-)

RKP Sir is an honourable man. Whatever job i shall do, the salary would be sufficient to take care of what I want in terms of what money can buy. Hence sal is not the question. Reasons have to do with - being in India, getting better job saisfaction, your work having much higher positive externality

Hope this helps, thanks a lot for your wishes !

aap jahan bhi jaayein cha jaayein par mujhe lagta hai aap ke liye misra ji aap advertising agency mein creative head ka kaam karo naa;aap bade creative hain;phir hum ache ache ad tv par dekhne milein ;)prasoon bhaiya apki job khatai mein hai yeh ladka phodu hai har jagah dhaag jama deta hai;waise ish bare mein socha zaroor adversiting agency mein bhi acha paise hain aap jaise log ke liye windfall gain

Aur sir ab shadi kab kar rahe ho ab aur bhi kuch karana baki rah gaya hai kya !!

roshnai said...

that's the whole point dear....the generic value framework parades in the garb of worded idealisms and the latter even when meant sincerely, inevitably are percieved for their rampant manifestation as unfortunate travesty.
your work will indeed have to 'speak for itself'.
aameen

any1 can go to google typr 'Kartikeya misra nad civil. u will n number of artciles praising him..one of them here goes..........For a year or so, Kartikeya Misra worked feverishly in the fast-paced New York city for the global investment banking and securities firm Goldman Sachs. His work involved strategic acquisitions, financial reengineering, use of metrics to quantify the results and value addition. This kept him busy for most of the time, weekends not excluded.

In 2008 January, however, he decided to call it quits to focus his energies on preparing for the civils. And for his effort, he secured 40th rank at the all India level in this year’s UPSC exams. He is now awaiting his IAS posting. Kartikeya, who did his computer science from BITS Pilani and management degree from IIM- Ahmedabad says: “A corporate job attains monotony over a period of time. There would be less deliverables, particularly to society.” The work only helps in personal or company development but not the poor, he reasons.

Kartikeya, who was part of the team that build the India office of Goldman Sachs at Mumbai, used his stint with the investment banker to achieve financial independence before plunging into public service. He worked there till January 2008 and returned to Hyderabad to prepare for the civils. It took him three months preparation for the prelims and another three months to clear the mains in his first attempt.

Its hindi again- n its lovely..there's an imagery forming while reading this and it seems to stay for a while...strange but again I can almost smell the 'Aangan mei padi tooti charpayi par os ke boondon ki bisaat', though I wonder if dew is odourless?!!? hmmm.. anyway these lines holds one-'Tumhare dabe hue kadmo ki aahat ki aarzoo mei ghar ke kapat
Gusalkhane mei tapakte pani ka sannate ke hriday par aaghat' 'Kitne khushnaseeb hain hum ki na kal ka hosh hai aur kal ki yaad'- :)
